Fire Lookout Hosts

Fire Lookout Hosts greet Lookout visitors and explain the role of lookouts in the history of the San Bernardino National Forest. They educate visitors about the forest ecosystem and lookout operations. Their work preserves the lookouts, increase public awareness, and creates a desire among visitors to conserve and help care for public lands.

How to Become a Fire Lookout Host
Fire Lookout Hosts is a partnership between the National Forest Association and the National Forests. Managed by the National Forest Association, the program recruits and trains volunteers who agree to two four hours shifts of service once a month May through November. You must complete a Fire Lookout Host Interest Survey and complete mandatory training to become a host.

Individuals interested in the Fire Lookout Hosts Program may contact George Morey, at any time of the year, on (909) 225-1025.

Orientation and training will be conducted each April at the beginning of the new fire season. No one will be permitted to become a host between training cycles, and each
volunteer must complete all of the required training.
